Sebelumnya, kalian harus sediakan bahan untuk melakukan upgrade, dan satu lagi "baca langkah-langkah upgrade versi ke jelly bean ini dengan perlahan-lahan serta tidak melewatkan pekerjaan lain, Hal utama adalah jangan terburu-buru karena akibatnya bisa fatal yaitu kena bootloop".

Cara ini sangat efektif dan saya buktikan sendiri di galaxy young milik keponakan, dan hasilnya sukses. Berikut adalah peralatan yang harus disiapkan terlebih dahulu :
1. Samsung galaxy young GT-S5360 yang sudah di root terlebih dahulu dan versi kernelnya masih versi bawaan pabrik. belum ada perubahan pada kernel galaxy young.
2. GT-S5360 CWM, bisa kalian download disini (1.32 MB).
3. Jellyblast V3, bisa kalian unduh disini (122 MB).
4. Quickboot, bisa kalian unduh disini (36 KB)
5. Sikap tenang, sabar, dan berani serta jangan terburu-buru kuncinya.

Sebelum melanjutkan, upgrade ini hanya merubah tampilan dari galaxy young saja dan untuk versi berubah, tetapi isi dari perangkat tidak bisa dimanipulasi dengan mengubah custom rom. Oleh karena itu, jika kalian bertujuan mengupgrade galaxy young hanya untuk menginstal BBM atau game yang support jellybean, tidak akan bisa. ingat ini hanya custom rom. jadi tampilannya saja yang berubah.

Apabila semua komponen sudah dipersiapkan, mari kita mulai eksperimen merubah galaxy young menjadi versi jellybean.
1. Letakan file "Jellyblast V3.Signed.ZIP" dan "GT_S5360_CWM.ZIP" yang sudah di download kedalam SD card [peletakan tidak di dalam folder].

2. Kembali diingatkan pastikan kernel masih dalam keadaan bawaan dari pabrik [ kalo anda masih menggunakan Ginggerbread 2.3.6, berarti kernel anda masih bawaan pabrik, lanjut ke langkah selanjutnya.

3. Kalau yang Sdcard nya di partisi, hapus telebih dulu aplikasi tersebut, seperti: a2SD atau 2SD dan lakukan format partisi. namun kalau tidak di partisi, abaikan saja dan lanjut kebawah.

4. Setelah di pastikan siap, install aplikasi "quickboot" di android kalian, lalu jalankan.

5. Kalian pilih "recovery" lalu tunggu sampai muncul tampilan "Android System Recovery".

6. Pilih "Apply Update From SDCARD" [untuk naik turun dalam memilih, gunakan tombol volume kebawah atau keatas].

7. Lalu pilih "GT_S5360_CWM.ZIP".

8. Setelah itu maka akan keluar tampilan "CLOCKWORKMOD RECOVERY". ( CWM )

9. Jika tampilan di atas sudah terlihat, anda pilih "wipe data/reset" kemudian pilih "yes - delete all".

10. Langkah diatas sudah, berikutnya pilih "wipe cache partition" kemudian pilih "yes - delete all".

11. Nah kalau sudah keduanya dieksekusi/dilakukan penghapusan, anda Pilih "install zip from Sdcard".

12. Lalu "Choose zip from Sdcard".

13. Arah Kan ke bawah dengan menekan tombol volume bawah, cari file yang namanya "JellyBlastV3.SIGNED.ZIP".

14. Kalau sudah kalian pilih biarkan proses memasukan data jellyblast tersebut berlangsung, kalau sudah muncul tulisan instalasi complete kurang lebih, tekan tombol back disebelah tombol home, kemudian pilih "reboot".

15. Dalam proses reboot ini membutuhkan waktu sedikit lama, jadi ketika muncul logo samsung galaxy young dan samsung, kemudian tampilan kosong hitam akan sesaat muncul. kalian biarkan saja sekitar 2-5 menit. secara otomatis kalau sudah selesai akan masuk dengan sendirinya.

16. Jangan sekali-kali kalian matikan saat proses tersebut!. apabila sudah masuk ke home biasanya muncul error, biarkan saja error tersebut. selamat kalian berhasil merubah versi galaxy young ke jellybean.

Untuk OTA versi 5 sebenarnya sudah keluar, akan tetapi saat saya mencobanya kurang kompatible dengan galaxy young dan membuat tampilannya jadi lebih besar dan sedikit melewati batas layar. oleh karena itu, saya rekomendasikan hanya sampai OTA keempat. nah, bagaimana cara instalnya? berikut penjelasan mudah serta lengkapnya.
1. Unduh OTA di atas, terserah kalian mau unduh yang mana. yang mana saja boleh, dan kalo sudah kalian pindahkan file zip OTA tersebut ke Sdcard/OTA-updater/download.

2. Jika sudah di pindahkan. buka "setting", pilih menu paling bawah "check for update".

3. Apabila muncul pemberitahuan hidupkan wifi, pilih "ignore" saja.

4. Kemudian tekan tombol sebelah "home", lalu pilih "view downloads rom".

5. Nah, muncul update rom saat tadi di pindahkan. kalian pilih itu. lalu pilih "install".

6. Kalian cukup ceklist pada "wipe cache" saja.

7. Lalu pilih "install" kembali. maka update akan diproses. maka ponsel akan reboot. setelah beberapa menit akan masuk ke home screen android kalian dan update sudah selesai dilakukan. begitupun untuk OTA yang lainnya. caranya sama.

Pengertian dari Firmware, Kernel, dan ROM di Android - Dengan perkembangan teknologi di bidang komunikasi, smartphone Android adalah perangkat terlaris selain IPhone. Dengan sistem yang berbasis open source, memudahkan semua pengguna untuk mengaplikasikan setiap kombinasi program dengan baik dan interaktif. Sebagian pengguna smartphone tersebut, terutama pengguna Android mulai memberanikan diri untuk mencoba meng-oprek ponselnya. Untuk developers, atau orang yang terbiasa dengan dunia oprek-oprekan Android mungkin sudah tidak asing dengan istilah Firmware, ROM, Dan Kernel. Namun tidak untuk para pemula yang baru saja menggunakan serta memulai pengalamannya dengan OS berlogo robot hijau ini.

Malam tadi, salah satu followers twitter saya ada yang bertanya tentang istilah-istilah diatas, kebetulan juga udah jadwalnya update blog namun belum nemu materinya. Untuk itu saya akan menjawab pertanyaan tersebut disini. Sekalian berbagi informasi bagi yang masih belum mengerti apa itu Firmware, ROM dan Kernel pada Android.

Firmware

Firmware merupakan Read-only OS yang bersifat tetap dan pengguna tidak memiliki akses untuk memodifikasi data. Modifikasi dari Firmware sebenarnya masih memungkinkan, hanya saja tidak semudah penggunaan normal. Hardware atau software khusus dibutuhkan untuk melakukan hal tersebut. Jika di Ponsel XPERIA, file firmware adalah file berekstensi *.ftf yang dapat diflash ke ponsel menggunakan software flashtool.

ROM adalah kepanjangan dari Read-Only Memory, dan secara teknis ROM mengacu pada media penyimpanan dari sebuah perangkat yang mana berisi file dari operating system (OS) yang tidak perlu diubah sama sekali selama pengoperasian normal perangkat tersebut.

Oleh karena itu dari pengertian ROM tersebut, instruksi semacam itu tersimpan di "read-only memory", yang berfungsi lebih seperti non-rewriteable CD atau DVD, untuk memastikan tidak ada perubahan yang dilakukan pada instruksi tersebut karena bisa membuat perangkat tidak berfungsi. Konsep ini berbeda dengan hardisk, solid state drive atau flash storage pada PC yang memungkinkan akses penuh atas kegiatan read/write data, bahkan pada area penyimpanan yang berisi file OS.

Kedua istilah "Firmware" dan "ROM" pada dasarnya mengacu pada hal yang sama dan dapat digunakan bergantian bila diterapkan pada perangkat tertentu. Atau bisa juga begini, ROM dan Firmware adalah tempat dimana operating system yang berjalan di handphone kita di install atau di taruh.

ROM sebagai Operating System
Ketika berbicara mengenai smartphone dan tablet, istilah ROM merujuk ke firmware yang disimpan dalam memori internal gadget, memory internal yang dimaksud ini berbeda dengan memory internal di mana umumnya aplikasi atau data tersimpan. Apabila Anda masih bingung beda kapasitas ROM dan Internal memori pada perangkat Anda, Anda bisa mengambil contoh informasi yang terdapat pada aplikasi Titanium Backup. Di tampilan utama aplikasi Android ini Anda bisa melihat informasi kapasitas dari System ROM, Internal, dan SD card perangkat Anda.

Ada juga istilah StockROM dan CustomROM, StockROM merupakan ROM Asli / ROM bawaan dari ponsel itu sendiri. Sedangkan CustomROM merupakan ROM yang sudah dimodifikasi isinya sesuai kebutuhan si pembuat CustomROM tersebut. Seperti dijelaskan di atas, untuk merubah ROM membutuhkan prosedur khusus untuk melakukan modifikasi. Prosedur memodifikasi atau mengganti isi data dari memori flash.

Flashing
Memori ROM yang digunakan pada smartphone atau PC tablet umumnya sama seperti memori flash yang ada pada SD card atau USB flashdisk. Hanya saja ROM lebih dioptimalkan dalam hal kecepatan dan performa untuk menjalankan sebuah OS. Flashing pada dasarnya sama dengan menginstal atau memodifikasi Firmware yang tersimpan di protected flash memory dari sebuah perangkat. Flashing OS merupakan suatu cara memasukkan data sistem operasi atau menginstall sistem operasi & kernelnya di dalam handset android kita. hampir sama caranya dengan ketika kita menginstall ulang komputer. Kernel

Kernel adalah inti yang ada dari sebuah OS yang memang fungsi utamanya adalah penghubung antara hardware dan software atau sebuah aplikasi yang digunakan. Kernel bertugas menangani Driver, Power Management, dll. oleh karena itu Kernel secara tidak langsung berdampak cukup besar dengan performa Smartphone itu sendiri.

Kernel juga bisa disebut sebagai jantung dari sistem operasi. Semua perintah yang dijalankan oleh OS itu diproses oleh kernel. kernel di android juga bisa dimodifikasi. dan tentunya akan membawa keuntungan bagi sistem operasi atau custom romnya itu sendiri. biasanya, orang mendevelop kernel itu disesuaikan dengan custom rom nya. kita tidak bisa seenaknya mengganti kernel kita dengan kernel lain yang tidak direkomendasikan oleh pembuat custom rom. di saat kita memflashing custom rom pada handset android kita, di dalam custom rom itu sendiri sebenarnya sudah tersedia kernel. dan terkadang kernel tersebut sudah dimodifikasi. namun tidak semua handset menyediakan custom kernel. ada beberapa handset, yang bootloadernya dikunci oleh perusahaan handsetnya. sehingga kita cuman dapat mengganti OSnya, tanpa dapat mengganti kernelnya. Untuk bootloader ponsel XPERIA secara default dalam kondisi terkunci, untuk menginstall CustomROM dan modifikasi kernel diharuskan meng-unlock bootloader terlebih dahulu. Perbedaan ROM/Firmware dangan Kernel
Diatas sudah dijelaskan tentang ROM/Firmware dan Kernel. secara singkat bisa saya rangkum seperti ini, ROM/Firmware merupakan internal memory dimana OS android disimpan. Jadi dalam dunia android ROM bisa dikatakan sebagai tempat atau daya tampung dari OS yang saat ini sudah ada banyak versi mulai dari cupcake, donut, eclair, froyo, gingerbread , honeycomb, icecream sandwich, jelly bean dan yang terbaru Kitkat. DI dalamnya terdapat paket program untuk game, sms, tampilan dll. Jadi jika anda ingin merubah interface maka yang diubah adalah ROM nya.

Nah sedangkan Kernel sendiri ketika kita sedang berinteraksi dengan aplikasi sebenarnya kita memerintahkan kernel untuk mengontrol hardware tersebut. Kernel juga bisa dimodifikasi sehingga hasilnya maksimal seperti yang dilakukan banyak developer. Yang dioptimalkan misalnya kerja (CPU, memory, audio, grafik dll).
